As we come to the end of Lent and begin our Easter celebration hopefully it can have special meaning for us in this Year of Mercy. In some ways it can seem strange to declare a year after a certain virtue, and yet I have noticed that week after week I have been more aware of in the Gospel readings, in numerous words, in so many things around us, that mercy is present and active in ways I had never noticed before. Hopefully we have not only been more aware of God’s mercy to us in our lives, but also of the many opportunities that each of us have to offer mercy to one another.
I pray that over our Lenten journey we have all recognized our need for God’s mercy, and in this Easter celebration we know that he offers it in abundance. May you experience the joy of this mercy and share this joy with those around you. Being more aware of the opportunities to offer mercy to one another and taking advantage of them. May you experience and share the love of God with others this Easter.
