Notes From The Pastor’s Pen – October 2, 2016

We just finished our first RCIA session for this year and it went very well. One of the great things about RCIA isn’t just the new people finding out about the Catholic Church and those who are desiring to become Catholic, but also the sponsors and those who are already Catholic and their learning and sharing and growth in their faith as we cover different topics. Because of this, and the fact that we are using new materials for the program, we thought it would be a good opportunity to invite parishioners to also come to the meetings if there is a topic they would like to hear about.

The new program we are using in RCIA this year is called Symbolon and it incorporates video clips with other specific prayers and discussion questions for each topic that will hopefully help us learn, share, and grow in our faith. There will be a variety of leaders for the different sessions including myself, Deacon Del, and parishioners Joe Dickmann and Ken Wilsker. Below I am listing our schedule for the Fall.

Oct 11 – Ken W… 3. THE BIBLE: God’s Love Letter to Humanity
Oct 18 – Ken W… 4. THE STORY OF SALVATION: Creation, Fall and Redemption
Oct 25 – Fr. Nick… Church Tour
Nov 1 – Ken W… 5. WHO IS JESUS?: Just a Good Man or Lord of Our Lives?
Nov 8 – Fr. Nick… 6. THE PASCHAL MYSTERY: The Mystery of Jesus’ Death and Resurrection
Nov 15 Joe D… 7. THE HOLY SPIRIT AND THE LIFE OF GRACE: God’s Divine Life Within Us
Nov 22 – Joe D… Liturgical Year
Nov 29 – Dcn.Del… 8. WHY DO I NEED THE CHURCH?:The Mystery of the
Catholic Church
Dec 6 – Dcn.Del… 9. MARY AND THE SAINTS: Our Spiritual Mother and the Communion of Saints
Dec 13 – Ken W… 10. THE LAST THINGS: What Happens After We Die?

We are meeting in the Centennial Room (under the altar of the church) on Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30. Consider coming up one week, who knows, you may come back for many of them. (Our worst problem would be if we get too many people and have to move to the Madonna Room or use the Parish Hall.)
