Dear friends in Christ,
Catholic Bar Association
We warmly welcome the members of the Catholic Bar Association for their annual conference which is being held this weekend at the Clayton Plaza Hotel. On Saturday, October 5, their chaplain, the Very Rev. Kenneth A. Riley, J.C.L., of the Diocese of Kansas City – Saint Joseph, is celebrating Solemn Exposition and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. in church for their participants and all others who would like to be present. We are grateful for their presence and pray that their time together will bear lasting fruit for those in the legal community in their service of the common good. Saints Yves of Chartres and Thomas More, pray for them.
Feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary
This Monday, October 7, the Church celebrates the Feast day of Our Lady of the Rosary. Here we call to mind the special role of the Blessed Virgin Mary in salvation history. She was chosen by God to be the fitting bear of His Son, the Word of God, Jesus Christ. Mary was preserved free from all stain of original sin and never sinned. When the course of her earthly life was completed, she was assumed body and soul into heaven from where she continually intercedes for us to God. She is the person closest to Christ because she is His mother. Let us always remember that we have a powerful intercessor in Our Lady as we ask her to pray for us all that, despite the personal challenges and difficulties we experience in life, the Lord will be with us and that Mary will be on our side.
