Wedding Music List

The Procession:
Please read the link below for a description of what is included at the procession of a Catholic Wedding Mass and a reflection upon the cultural ideas of a wedding procession that come from movies and secular-or non Catholic weddings:

Many Catholics in the United States are unfamiliar with the formal order of worship for the celebration of Matrimony, despite its official character and noble simplicity. For example, the Church’s Rite of Marriage suggests a form of the opening procession that is very different from what is ordinarily done in the United States culture but can be very beautiful and effective. Please see video link (begins at 8:30) for examples of Catholic wedding processions:

Music Selections for Entrance Rite

Option 1: Bride and Groom process together with the option of family members
joining. Priest either meets them at the door and processes ahead or waits for the
couple at the altar. Choose one Sacred song or instrumental piece with the Entrance
antiphon chanted at the beginning of the mass

Option 2:
The Church recognizes that some American cultural traditions have developed over the years which are not officially part of the Catholic Rite of Marriage, but are permissible for couples to incorporate. These traditions include separate processions into the church by groomsmen, bridesmaids, flower girls/ring bearers, parents of the bride and groom, etc.

Entrance-Procession Music Selections
